Veinseal is a dry blended core-sand additive used in the casting process. It is specially formulated to reduce or eliminate casting defects related to the thermal expansion of sand-resin systems. In addition to alleviating “veining†defects, Veinseal has also been proven to enhance surface finishes, reduce or eliminate gas defects, and in some instances, eliminate the need for a refractory coating. Veinseal is a value-added product that has demonstrated its effectiveness by greatly reducing the expenses associated with the cleaning of castings.
The negative effects of these defects can include:
Increased rate of scrapped castings and necessary rework
Increased process costs and prolonged manufacturing cycles
Failure to meet customer quality expectations VEINSEAL successfully reduces casting defects such as metal penetration, veining caused by thermal expansion of silica sand, gas defects, burn-ins and other surface problems. It is effectively used in coldbox, warmbox, furan, resin coated sands and other core making applications.
